Vivek Oberoi replaces Abhay Deol in Ek Chalis.. sequel

Remember the 2007 hit, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local? In Sanjay Khanduri’s maiden venture, Abhay Deol had missed the last local train in Mumbai. Now in the film’s sequel, Vivek Oberoi is set for a tryst with Delhi Metro.
Titled Gyrah Chalis Ki Last Metro, the film sees Vivek’s character missing the last metro home. The 2007 original had turned out to be a sleeper hit and also gave Abhay’s career a huge fillip. But Khanduri wasn’t keen to repeat the lead actor and hence finalised Vivek for the part.
VivekHowever, unlike the original, which was a dark thriller with comic undertones, the sequel will be commercial and glitzy. And makers are confident that the swanky Delhi Metro will also add on to the movie’s narrative.
And though the makers are largely tightlipped about details, the film is said to be shot on a larger-than-life scale, featuring the capital city’s colourful landscape. Khanduri reveals, “Delhi Metro will play an integral part in the film.”
Interestingly, the sequel will see the Shootout At Lokhandwala actor play a typical middle-class Punjabi munda (boy). And to perfect his part, Vivek is planning to visit various Punjabi families in Mumbai to closely monitor their mannerisms, body language and attitude.
When contacted, Khanduri confirms: “It was Vivek’s idea to study his character closely and it’s the right approach. As a filmmaker, what else can you ask for? I am happy to see my actor is so excited about his role.”
