Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor wedding: Bebo to wear Sharmila Tagore’s sharara

With less than four months to go for Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s wedding, the bride-to-be’s wedding dress has been finalized. It will be thesharara that Saif’s mom wore on her wedding.

Continuing the tradition of the royal Pataudi family, Kareena Kapoor has happily agreed to wear the same sharara that Sharmila Tagore wore on her wedding to the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in 1969.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will get hitched on October 16 and the wedding preparations are already said to be underway. Interestingly even though Kareena had a slew of designer friends to choose from to do her wedding outfit, she will respect the tradition of the Khan family by wearing Sharmila Tagore’s sharara

Earlier, it was reported that the sharara will be redone and embellished to give it a modern look, but now Sharmila Tagore has now confirmed that no changes will be made to the dress.

However, Kareena Kapoor’s favourite Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra will reportedly design her trousseau.

Saif and Kareena will tie the knot in Pataudi in what could be a registered wedding. Later, there would be a lavish reception thrown in Mumbai for the friends and colleagues from the film industry.

So far, Saif and Kareena have maintained silence over their wedding plans. It’s only mom Sharmila Tagore who’s been spilling the beans.

Amitabh Bachchan death rumour an ugly hoax!

Fake death rumours have come to haunt Bollywood’s much loved superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The 69-year-old actor was falsely declared dead in a car accident.

According to the report, Amitabh Bachchan had a fatal car crash on Route 80 between the towns of Roswell and Morristown in the US. The report added that Big B lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.

Not stopping at that, the report, which even spelled the superstar’s second name erroneously as Bachan, went on to give details of the superstar’s funeral.

“Memorial services for Amitabh Bachan have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma. (sic)” the report claimed.
In truth, Amitabh Bachchan is very much alive, enjoying the Euro 2012 and even bonding with what he calls his extended twitter family.

“HOME !!! Aaaaah ! Lovely to join up again with the twiterati familia extendum ! back from the game and another penalty shootout !!” the superstar tweeted on throughout the night even after watching the penalty shootout between Spain and Portugal.

“And now that the game is over, the entire night to connect with all .. I think we need to change nomenclature of TwFmXt to TwFmXtNc: Twiterati Familia Extendum Nocturnal .. the extended family on twitter functional only during the night !! Ha!” the superstar tweeted.

Aishwarya Rai’s baby Aaradhya is ‘tall, beautiful, and always smiling’

Here’s some interesting tidbit for those who want to know how Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya looks like. None other than grandma Jaya Bachchan spills the beans.

In an interview to BBC, Jaya Bachchan revealed, “Aaradhya looks like a bit of Aishwarya and a bit of Abhishek. She’s a tall girl."

Jaya was also all praise of Aishwarya Rai’s motherly skills.

“Aishwarya is a hands-on mom. She is sometimes overcautious. Aaradhya is not intimidated to faces. She is beautiful. I call her Strawberry because when she was born she reminded me of a strawberry. She is always smiling. Touchwood. Now she`s trying to crawl and it`s special to us,” reveals the proud grandma.

Jaya Bachchan added: “Sometimes I tease Aishwarya and I say well Aaradhya is a very lucky girl because can you imagine having a nurse like Miss World Aishwarya! I would also like her (Aishwarya) to start going out but she is absolutely, totally hands down and doesn’t depend on anybody, which I think is great.”

To Jaya’s description could be added a little revelation by a fan who got the chance to have a good look at Aaradhya in London. The fan said that Aaradhya has brown eyes.

Mehdi Hassan: end of golden era of ghazal

Ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan first mesmerised connoisseurs with his rendition of "Gulon main rang bhare", step one of a long musical journey that lasted five decades. The death of the artist, who gave voice to ghazals such as "Patta patta boota boota" and "Abke bicchde khwaabon mein mile", brings the curtains down on an era of lyricism, melody and poetry in light Hindustani classical music.

Born in undivided India in 1927, the ghazal singer, who passed away in a Karachi hospital Wednesday after a prolonged illness, was instrumental in opening up the evocative world of Urdu poetry. He popularised the poetry form as a musical genre for millions of Pakistani and Indian homes in the process.

The soft-spoken man was the uncrowned king of music for Pakistan's movie industry and further raised the profile of the ghazal, once considered passe among elite exponents of Hindustani classical music.

According to an estimate by his son Arif, Hassan gave voice to more than 20,000 songs and, apart from Urdu, also sang in Bengali, Punjabi and Pashto.

Some of his famous ghazal renditions include "Zindagi mein sabhi pyar kiya kartein hain" (written by Qateel Shifai); "Dekh tu dil ki jaan se uthta hai" (by Mir); "Shola tha jal bujha hoon"; "Yeh mojeza bhi mohabbat dikhaye mujhe" (by Qateen Shifai); "Abke bicchde khwaabon mein mile" (Ahmad Faraz); "Baat karni mujhe mushkil" (Bahadur Shah Zafar); Uzr aane mein bhi hai (Daagh Dehlvi)

Born to a family of Kalawant musicians in Luna village, now in the Indian state of Rajasthan, Hassan was musically baptised by father Ustad Azeem Khan and uncle Ustad Ismail Khan, who were Dhrupad musicians.

The family migrated to Pakistan after partition and sank into penury. Eking out a living was difficult. Young Mehdi began to work in a bicycle shop and later became an auto-mechanic.

In his book "Mehdi Hasan: The Man & his Music", Pakistani author Asif Noorani has highlighted this phase of Hassan's life and written that his humility stood tall against the fame and greatness he had achieved later.

"He had earned his living by repairing automobiles during his younger days. During his years of stardom, his harmonium broke and he started repairing it himself, wittingly replying to the people surrounding him that this was a piece of cake compared to the number of engines that he had repaired in the past," Noorani wrote.

The hardships of life notwithstanding, Hassan stuck to his music and continued with his "riyaz". His patience paid off when he was invited to sing for Radio Pakistan in 1957 - first as a 'thumri' singer and then as a 'ghazal' exponent.

Mehdi Hassan had to work harder than many of his younger colleagues but his innovative approach earned him fame.

Traditionally, ghazals were sung in a thumri-like manner. They were set to ragas like Khamaj, Piloo and Desh. The classical format stymied the scope of the compositions - preventing it from innovating.

However, Hassan pioneered a "ghazal gayaki" that played upon the mood of the music rather than on the classical nuances.

A composer of rare brilliance, he had a flair for using the ragas best suited to the ghazal's appeal.

Hassan's style combined dhrupad, khayal and Rajasthani folk music.

His magic was not confined to Pakistan, he was equally popular in India. In fact, he was one of the first Pakistani ghazal singers who charmed Indian audiences.

His fan following had impressive names - Lata Mangeshkar once described his voice as the "Voice of God" and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great fan of his melodies.

In October 2010, Mangeshkar and Mehdi Hassan teamed up for "Tera Milana" in the album "Sarhadein", probably their first and last duet.

In 1978, when Vajpayee was foreign minister, Hassan had performed at his residence.

After shining on the music firmament from 1962 to the early 1980s, Hassan's career started fading as illness took a toll and Urdu films became less popular.

His home country honoured him with several awards and honours - Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

The Nepal government too honoured him with the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu.

Mehdi Hassan, who married twice, is survived by 14 children - nine sons and five daughters. Both his wives died before him.

Karisma Kapoor’s husband planning to marry again?

You know all is not well on the marital front when a wife stays away from her husband. Actress Karisma Kapoor may have easily evaded questions on her marriage, but it’s pretty obvious that she is going through a rough phase, and staying mostly in Mumbai and not with her husband Sunjay Kapur in Delhi. Meanwhile, Sunjay is apparently planning marriage with his good friend.

The grapevine suggests that Karisma’s hubby Sunjay, whom she married in 2003, is quite close to the former model and socialite Priya Sachdev, and is now planning to take his relationship to the next level. As a source is quoted as saying, “Sunjay and Priya appear to be extremely serious about each other. They want to keep their past behind and start anew.”

The reports of Priya Sachdev, who was earlier married to the rich hotelier Vikram Chatwal and also has a daughter with him, and Sunjay Kapur getting close started floating around in the year 2010 when the two were quite often spotted at the high-profile parties in the capital.

The insiders claim that Karisma had married Sunjay on the rebound after her breakup with Abhishek Bachchan to whom she was engaged. Even after the birth of Karisma’s daughter Samaira in March 2005, there was a strong buzz that all was not well on the marital front. However, something went right with the couple because Lolo was pregnant again and delivered a boy Kiaan Raj in March 2010, but even the attempts to give their marriage a second chance proved futile as the marital woes continued.

While interacting with the media during the promotions of her comeback film, Dangerous Ishhq, Karisma Kapoor preferred to stay mum about her personal life, and even requested that she should not be asked questions about her marriage.

The actress is said to be fully aware of her hubby’s ways, and both the parties concerned are keen to tackle it in a quiet way without any media glare.

Sunjay was earlier married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani from whom he got a divorce just a few days before he tied the knot with Karisma.

Breaking News: Shahrukh Khan banned from Wankhede stadium for 5 years

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan was banned from the Wankhede Stadium for five years, Mumbai Cricket Association President Vilasrao Deshmukh announced Friday.

The development comes two days after the co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders allegedly got into a fracas with MCA officials and security personnel at the Wankhede stadium here in Mumbai.

SRK drunk and abusive? MCA says yes, star says no

Shah Rukh Khan was at the centre of an ugly row Thursday with allegations that he had got into a brawl with security personnel and officials at the Wankhede stadium. But the star issued a furious denial and said it was his children and others who had been "manhandled" and deserved an apology.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner even faced a lifetime ban from entering the Wankhede Stadium after allegedly turning up there drunk at the ground and misbehaving with security guards and cricket officials Wednesday night.

The incident took place after his team beat Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League match at the stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) filed a complaint with Mumbai's Marine Drive police station.

In a case of his word against theirs, Shah Rukh denied that he was drunk or that his behaviour was incorrect.

"I don't think that my behaviour was incorrect or I did something illegal. I think what I did was correct. They are my kids and I have a responsibility towards them. I will not apologise. They (officials) should apologise to me," Shah Rukh told reporters outside his residence.

Recounting his version, the 46-year-old said: "I had gone to pick up my children who were there to watch the match. I went there, congratulated my team and when I came back, I saw that there a gentleman was manhandling the children. They were pushing little girls. I just told him that this is not the way to behave.

"He (the official) spoke something in Marathi, something which I can't even repeat... I said he should not speak to me like this. It is extremely disturbing to see the way they manhandled children… I won't deny that I could have said something in a fit of anger," he added.

He said he was not drunk.

"I just drink socially. It is an easy way to pick on the celebrities and say things like that they were drunk or were angry."

The version of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was completely different. Officials said Shah Rukh and his entourage wanted to celebrate after the presentation ceremony but were not allowed to do so.

He allegedly misbehaved with an elderly guard and pushed him. When MCA officials intervened, he is said to have abused them.

"This is a grave matter. I have called for an urgent meeting and we shall discuss the matter following which we will decide the future course of action," union minister and MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh told IANS.

A decision on a lifetime ban would be taken only after the meeting of all members from the managing committee of MCA next week, MCA Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Iqbal Shaikh agreed that the actor was drunk and said police were looking into the matter.

"Shah Rukh was drunk. He was smelling of alcohol but he was not drinking at the Wankhede stadium. But it is not an offence. He was also abusing and threatening MCA and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) officials," said Sheikh.

Sheikh, who is also a member of the MCA managing committee, said he was present at the ground and tried to prevent the situation from turning ugly.

As the controversy swirled, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla said a decision would be taken only after getting all the versions.

The scuffle is unwelcome news for the star, who was in the spotlight in January this year for slapping director Shirish Kunder at a party hosted by Sanjay Dutt.

Shah Rukh's colleagues in Bollywood appeared to be strangely quiet at this latest controversy with no immediate reactions.

Shahrukh Khan ‘misbehaves’ after KKR win; might be banned from Wankhede Stadium

Bollywood star and Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shahrukh Khan is likely to face a lifetime ban on entering the Wankhede stadium after he allegedly misbehaved with security guards and cricket officials at the ground, officials said.

The incident took place Wednesday night after the IPL match between his team and Mumbai Indians. Kolkata Knight Riders won the match.

Shahrukh Khan allegedly misbehaved with a security guard and pushed him. When Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials tried to intervene, he is said to have abused them.

A complaint has been registered in Mumbai's Marine Drive police station by MCA officials, who will decide on the ban Thursday.

"He pushed the security guard and misbehaved with him. He also used bad language with security officials at the stadium. When we tried to intervene, he yelled out expletives at us," MCA Treasurer Ravi Sawant told reporters Thursday morning.

Sawant said Shah Rukh, flanked by the bodyguards, went to the players' dressing rooms to congratulate them. He then came down and started going towards the ground.

"When the security personnel told him that he cannot do so, he abused the guard and his men manhandled the security personnel," he alleged.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Iqbal Shaikh also confirmed the incident and said police were looking into the matter.

Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor together in a film!

These two most popular Kapoors in Bollywood were waiting for the right script to work together. Since Ranbir Kapoor is Kareena Kapoor’s first cousin, their sibling status kept them from pairing romantically. Now, director Zoya Akhtar has something interesting for Ranbir and Kareena.

The maverick filmmaker has convinced the real life cousins to play the lead roles of a brother and sister in her next venture. As a tabloid reports, Zoya Akhtar, after the successful Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara last year, has already started planning her next, and for that the filmmaker has managed to pull off a casting coup of sorts -- two dazzling Kapoors of the film industry.

“Both Ranbir and Kareena were always aware that they couldn’t pair romantically for any film. So for them to come together for any project, it needed to have an extraordinary script,” a source is quoted as saying. The film revolves around a brother and a sister, to be played by Ranbir and Kareena.

Zoya Akhtar wants to revive the brother-sister bonding which used to be a crucial sub-plot in the films of 1990s. Zoya narrated the script to Kareena while she was shooting for Talaash, and as per reports Ranbir Kapoor too has heard the script and has given his consent. The movie is likely to go on the floors by the end of this year.

Dhanush leaves Rakhi Sawant ‘heartbroken’?

Rakhi Sawant is a scorned woman. But she’s not unleashing hell’s fury, rather wishing well to the man she alleges has insulted her: Dhanush.

Rakhi claims she was recently slated to perform with Dhanush on his popular track ‘Kolaveri Di’ and she even had a very glam dress ready for the gig, but Dhanush, she alleges, bowed out at the last minute. Rakhi claims Dhanush was ill-advised that performing with the controversy queen Rakhi Sawant would sully his image.

“I am completely heartbroken,” says the drama diva while reacting to Dhanush’s snub.

However, Rakhi Sawant is not spitting fire or badmouthing Dhanush. Rather, she’s wishing him well.

“I am a big fan of Dhanush's songs and acting skills. Even though he didn't show respect towards me and treated me as an untouchable, I pray that his songs and films become more popular than ever!” Rakhi is quoted as saying in an interview.

This new mellow side of Rakhi is apparently the result of her becoming a follower of Jesus Christ.

Zarine Khan tries to turn vegetarian

Actress Zarine Khan says she is trying to become a vegetarian, but finds it difficult to abstain from non-veg food.

"I have been a non-vegetarian since birth, so it is not very easy. Hats off to vegetarian people... I am trying my level best to turn vegetarian," the 27-year-old told reporters Thursday at the launch of the Bhagwat Calendar.

The actress, who joined the industry two years ago with the 2010 release Veer, got a lot of flak for her plump look. But she has since shed a lot of weight.

Talking about the secret behind her trim figure, she said: "I eat whatever I want to in the right quantity and at the right time. If I have a craving for something, I make sure I indulge in it but not too much."

The actress featured in the recently released Housefull 2. Although Zarine Khan did not put enough light on her future projects, she thanked her fans for appreciating "Housefull 2" and making it a huge success.
