Ali Zafar is now working on his fourth album

After his hit albums – Huqa Pani, Masty and Jhoom, pop artist Ali Zafar is now working on his fourth music collection.

Zafar’s first two albums were mainly made up of pop elements, whereas in his third album he experimented with Sufi music. The album topped the charts in both Pakistan and India for several weeks and also won the best album award at the Lux Style Awards this year.

Responding to fan queries about what to expect from the new album, Zafar said he is going through the process of unlearning and breaking away from the norm. “I am rediscovering, experimenting,” he said in a press statement.

The pop sensation also made his way to Bollywood and acted in films such as Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, London Paris New York and Tere Bin Laden.

Aamir Khan’s baby boy Azad Rao Khan faces camera!

Tust Aamir Khan to be naughty! The actor has shot a promo of his upcoming TV show Satyamev Jayate with son Azad Rao Khan without his wife Kiran Rao’s knowledge. It seems the cool dad is okay with his son facing the camera as Azad is barely five months old now.

While talking to a tabloid, the actor reveals that a promo of Satyamev Jayate features his son Azad, but that’s for family viewing only. Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao was already furious over using their Bandra residence for the shooting of the promos. Kiran also barred the makers from showing Azad’s nursery.

Aamir Khan says, “Half the time I shot the campaign, Azad was in my lap,” so when Kiran wasn’t around they shot a promo with Azad. Aamir adds, “At first, I told her (Kiran) that we shot a promo with him and it looked very good. Then I told her that I was kidding and we wouldn’t use it.”

Was Azad comfortable in front of camera? Aamir says Azad is a happy baby with good temperament and an amazing smile. However, the promo is not for the audiences, Aamir has decided to keep the footage strictly for family viewing.

Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate starts May 6 and the actor is hopeful that the show will click with the audience. Satyamev Jayate is going to be an emotional roller-coaster ride for the Indian audiences.

Sanjay Dutt to sing extra song for 'Department'

The trailers of Department are already in theatres and the promotional clippings are ready to be aired on the small screen. But the film's producers have decided to shoot an additional song, to be sung by actor Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay Dutt will also feature in the song, to be choreographed by his friend and protege, Ahmed Khan, according to a source from Viacom18 Motion Pictures, producers of "Department".

"The peppy edgy number has been composed by Sandeep Chowta and Mr.Dutt would be recording the song in his own voice. There's no doubt that Sanjay Dutt is a major attraction after Agneepath. We want to make sure he is projected as the film's USP," said the source.

Sanjay will himself take charge of the song, which besides being aired on all the channels, would also be appended on to the Ram Gopal Varma-directorial for the end credits.

Choreographer Khan confirmed the shooting of the additional song for the movie, which also features Rana Daggubati and megastar Amitabh Bachchan

"Yes, we are shooting a song for 'Department'. It's a music video to be sung by Baba (Sanjay). He and I are getting together once again after 'Aye Shivani' in Sanjay Chhel's 'Khoobsurat' (he sang it and I shot it)," said Khan.

"This time it's an edgy song with no dancing," he added.

Apart from "Aye Shivani", Sanjay had also sung a part of the title track of Rajkumar Hirani's "Munnabhai M.B.B.S." and also gave his voice to a song in "Kaante".

My first single is ready: Priyanka Chopra

Actor Priyanka Chopra, who is busy working on her debut music album, says that if all goes well, her first single will be out by mid-year.
“Music has always been a passion but I wanted the right opportunity to venture into it. This deal with UMG-Desi Hits! is amazing. We are looking at
dropping a single sometime in the middle of 2012,” says Priyanka, adding, “I was really nervous the first few times I went into the recording booth to sing. But I’m really looking forward to sharing my music with the world.”
The actor, who spent time in Los Angeles writing and recording for the album, is also excited about her upcoming projects — Krrish 3, Kunal Kohli’s next, and Anurag Basu’s Barfii. “I play an autistic character in Barfii. It is one of my most memorable film experiences. People may think it is a very serious film, but it is a funny, sweet film,” says the actor, whose last two films, Don 2 and Agneepath, were blockbusters.
Music and films aside, Priyanka recently beat her contemporaries to win the title of India’s Glam Diva by a TV show. But for her, it is actors Marilyn Monroe and Madhuri Dixit who are the real divas.

Top 10 Indian Songs of 2011

No item numbers, but original peppy compositions was the hallmark of Bollywood music in 2011. The first big hit was 'Darling', in the powerful resonating voice of Usha Uthup in Saath Khoon Maaf, while the loud and boisterous Vishal-Shekhar composition 'Oh la la' in The Dirty Picture gave partygoers something to gyrate on at New Year parties.

Some of the chartbusters brought in a whiff of Spanish and Russian flavour to the music. Overall, youthful songs and fresh compositions ruled the charts. A list of 10 most happening songs of 2011...

'Darling'
In the very beginning, Bollywood was introduced to this addictive number from Saath Khoon Maaf. The stretched usage of word "darling" in the powerful voice of Usha Uthup coupled with Rekha Bharadwaj's mischievous tone did the trick for the Vishal Bharadwaj composition. The Russian flavour infused in the song managed to captivate listeners.

'Sadi galli'
Lehmber Hussainpuri's original composition was restricted only to the heartlands of Punjab till composer Krsna discovered it and decided to use the folk number in the film Tanu Weds Manu. The already popular foot-tapping song caught the pulse of the listeners, thanks to its Punjabi lyrics and entertaining beats.

'Chaar baj gaye party abhi baaki hai'
The movie F.A.L.T.U sank without a trace at the box-office, but the only saviour was the energetic party number 'Char baj gaye' by singer Hard Kaur. A Sachin-Jigar composition became so popular that it became a must for discotheques and marriages.

'Dhinka chika'
It wasn't the signature dance step picturized on Salman Khan with his hands in his pockets that made the Ready song a rage. Full on energy, complimented by Mika Singh and Amrita Kak's voice, the infectious composition by guest composer Devi Shri Prasad, who included sound of whistles and dhols, forced everyone to shake a leg.

'Bhaag DK Bose'
The double meaning song from Delhi Belly had become a national anthem of sorts. Composed and sung by Ram Sampath, the quirky, interesting and upbeat number became an instant hit with listeners. A brave move by the producers and smart execution by Sampath as the lyrics projected the lingo of today's youth.

'Senorita'The idea of using voices of actors Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar in the fun-loving song from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara worked in favour of the film. Composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the number with Spanish flavour brought in the element of happiness with its happy-go-lucky beats.

'Teri Meri'
A poignant love song, it was definitely not Himesh Reshammiya's best composition, but the number stood out in the average music album of Bodyguard. High on Sufi touch, backed by the soulful voices of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal, it was the only romantic number that made it to the top 10 charts this year.

'Chammak Challo'
If the Shah Rukh Khan starrer mega-budget film RA.One was the most awaited movie of the year, then the song too created a buzz much before its release. The song, which marks Bollywoood's first musical collaboration with international singer Akon, had Hinglish lyrics and a repeat value.

'Sadda Haq'
Music maestro AR Rahman might be selective about choosing his projects, but whenever he does, one expects nothing less than a musical treat. For Rockstar, the composer scored soulful numbers but this power-punched number, sung by Mohit Chauhan, was an instant success.

'Ooh la la'
Sometimes good things are saved for the last. And it happened when the bling king Bappi Lahiri along with Shreya Ghosal went back into the 1970's era and replicated the magic of nonsensical lyrics, loud beats and peppy song. And it all came together with the song 'Ooh la la'.

Kailasa out with new album after two years

It is no surprise that Kailash Kher’s Kailasa chose to hop onto a houseboat on Dal Lake to shoot their latest video. The track, Yaadaan Teriyan… is from the Kashmiri artiste’s upcoming album, Rangeele, which he hopes will help keep the memories of his village alive. “The songs are all part of the
world I grew up in. Daaro Na Rang… was written almost seven years ago, when I was travelling unreserved in a train,” Kher recalls.
Others like Katha Gaan…, a storytelling experiment, are Kher’s way of piecing together stories from childhood memory. “My grandmother would tell us stories about gypsies, princesses and sorcerers,” he says.
Kailash KherKailasa, comprising seven other members — Naresh and Paresh Kamath, Sameer Chiplunkar, Kurt Peters, Sanket Naik, Sankarshan Kini and Tejasvi Rao — follows suit from its previous three endeavours, in blending Indian folk, Sufi with western rhythms for its latest outing, Rangeele. “All our songs explore the different aspects of love,” says Kher, before taking the cue for Babaji…, a Sufi masterpiece that he composed for his son, Kabir, when he was in the womb.
Kashmiri rap
The album will also see Kher rap for the first time. “I realised village kids have been rapping long before American rappers became cool,” he laughs. Talking about his song, “Hud Kaan Maan Bitti Bitti…, Kher breaks into a Shankar Mahadevan-esque breathless mode. “The song is based on a game we played as kids. The loser in a game of gilli-danda would have to piggy-back ride the winner, and the rider would run around that way chanting the words “Hud Kaan Maan Bitti, Bitti, Bitti, Bitti, Bitti… until he ran out of breath,” he explains.
Rangeele is also the first album the group will release under their own independent label, Kailasa Records. “With our label, we wish to offer transparency to the artiste, something that the industry lacks as of now,” Kher says.
Out later this month
Slated to release on November 25, Kailasa plans a country tour to reach out to fans. Kher has also launched his band’s YouTube channel and iPhone app and is now working on other platforms too. “For Rangeele, we plan to release 10 videos from the 12-song album. From the song name to what they would like to see, we are constantly in touch with them through the social network,” Kher says, signing off.
