Sanjay Dutt creates new record

Mumbai: Amidst the din surrounding Sanjay Dutt’s impending jail term in connection with possession of illegal ammunition during the 1993 Mumbai blasts, what has come to the fore is that the actor is working round the clock to keep up his commitments.

Dutt, who had recently stated that many in the film industry have been spreading false news about him, has created a new record by dubbing for ‘Policegiri’ in just three hours.

Talking to a leading daily, producer Rahul Agarwal said, “It is humanly impossible for someone to be as good as Sanju. He completed dubbing for the entire film in just three hours. I was really touched to see that he still came the next day to ensure that everything is good to go. Hats off to Sanju.”

Dutt had to surrender to the police last month around, April 18, but had appealed to the Supreme Court to grant him some more time to complete his impending work.

The actor will also be seen playing the role of Sher Khan in ‘Zanjeer’ remake, a character essayed by veteran actor Pran in the original version. The film in question will mark the debut of Ram Charan Teja, the son of Telugu superstar and Congress MP Chiranjeevi.

Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh in relationship

“Ranveer Singh is a wonderful person. He has the ability to walk into a room and make you feel like you’re the most important person in the world. And it’s not just with people he knows. He could be meeting someone for the first time and make him feel like they’re best friends. That’s God given. That’s why he gets so much love.
We’re in a similar space in terms of our age, where we’re coming from in our lives. There’s a lot of similarity between us, he doesn’t come from a film background. He’s also relatively new to the industry. We have a great time together. He makes me laugh a lot. He makes me feel special. That’s it. If I’m in a relationship, I’ll talk about it.”

Sanjay Dutt is working with Shilpa Shetty’s project

According to source, Sanjay had to give bulk dates for Raju Hirani’s next. The source added, “Shilpa had been waiting for a long time for Sanjay’s dates but he has an extremely packed schedule. The actress-turned-producer was not ready to wait any longer and signed Sunny Deol for her film.”
Further the source said, “Shilpa wants to complete the film as soon as possible and move on to make her next project. Sanjay and she are very close and Sanjay has joined hands with her husband Raj Kundra for their business venture.”
If believe source, Sunny has charged a whopping Rs 3 crore for the project. A spokesperson from the actor’s office states, “Yes, Sanju sir is not doing the film as he had given bulk dates to Hirani and his film with TP Agarwal. He didn’t want Shilpa’s production to be delayed due to his dates. He told them to go ahead and finish the film.”
Well, the two good friends said to be okay with the discomfort. There is no dispute and they parted ways amicably.

Bipasha doesn't follow fashion rules?

Bipasha Basu says she doesn't follow fashion rules, and hates it when the "so-called" fashion police point out fingers at her choice of clothes.

"It's more about being yourself, being comfortable. So there are a lot of times when people, the so-called fashion police say 'Bipasha wears fitted dresses all the time.' Yes, I wear them, so what?" the 34-year-old said here Wednesday while unveiling a new apparel brand Promart.
"I think fashion is being yourself. I don't follow the diktats of fashion. If I take a fancy to something, I will get it. But it doesn't have to be do or die for me," she added.

Raaz 3

Vikram Bhatt’s latest spookfest Raaz 3 may be riddled with clichés of the horror genre, but the film does at times send chills down one’s spine. Put succinctly, Raaz 3 is a one-time scare.

After dabbling with subjects like reincarnation and rapist ghosts, Bhatt pivots his latest flick on a more humane premise: the deep rooted jealousy and insecurity of a woman who’s beginning to lose her fame, her man, besides her mental balance, of course.

Bipasha Basu plays Shanaya, a successful film star facing competition from her half-sister Sanjana (Esha Gupta). As Sanjana sweeps awards that Shanaya hoped to win, bags movie projects that looked Shanaya’s for the taking, insecurities come creeping in and Shanaya loses all sense of morality or righteousness and takes to casting black magic spells on Sanjana to destroy her career and life.

To do her dirty job, Shanaya seduces her director Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) who’s indebted to her for giving him a break in films and who now wholeheartedly gives in to her seductions only to be trapped in a sordid intrigue that makes Sanjana’s life hell on Halloween. The tide turns when Aditya develops feelings for Sanjana and decides to rid her of the black magic spell cast by Shanaya. Easier said than done.

To his credit, Vikram Bhatt has this time chosen a subject that’s far less outlandish, but he fails to infuse novelty in the scares. The evil spirits being invoked in graveyards, the hands popping out of a TV screen to throttle the young heroine, clowns wandering about in her haunted house, thebabastantrics and all doing mysterious rituals and mouthing mumbo-jumbo mantras are not exactly one’s idea of good horror. That said, a few macabre sequences do stand out. Like when Esha Gupta is mauled by thousands of flying cockroaches or when maggot-infested ghouls make an appearance, which, when seen with 3D effects, do appear popping out of the screen, and it’s not without a careful peep into the popcorn bucket for the creepy-crawlies that a viewer thereafter proceeds with ritual munching.

The culmination to the story isn’t unpredictable, particularly when it’s turned into that never-ending battle between the good and the evil.

Kudos to Bipasha Basu for giving herself fully to this role like a possessed woman. Her character breathes malice for her rival. She’s the cunning, manipulative, unrelenting vamp that doesn’t mind romping with an evil spirit in her vile pursuit. Esha Gupta has a persecuted look throughout the film, and her performance teeters between a few glimmers of fine acting and plain hamming. Emraan Hashmi, surprisingly, looks disinterested for the most part, as if it’s just another drill for a good payday. Aditya’s role is underwritten for an actor of Emraan’s caliber, the only compensation being the steamy lovemaking scenes he has with both Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta.

The songs are a let-down; more notable, however, is how Vikram Bhatt uses the background music to build anticipation. The silences preceding the sudden burst of background score -- the thumps, the screams, the creaky doors -- with morbid imagery in 3D to boot, do give you the heebie-jeebies once in a while.

All said, Raaz 3 works because of a fine performance by Bipasha Basu and a few genuine scary moments well executed by Vikram Bhatt. An old hand at horror genre, Bhatt’s improving with every film, but he needs to forgo the clichés that have become synonymous with his oeuvre.

Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood's first superstar, dies at 69

Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna breathed his last on July 18 at his residence in Mumbai. He was 69 and is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters Twinkle and Rinke. Film actor Akshay Kumar was his son-in-law. His last rites will be performed on Thursday.
The veteran actor was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital last week following reports of low blood pressure, but was discharged on Tuesday and was at his Mumbai residence since then.
Earlier on June 24, he was admitted to a hospital following kidney problems.
The actor is hailed as India's first superstar after 15 consecutive solo superhits between 1969 and 1972, a record that remains unbroken.
The Bollywood industry expressed grief at the death of the first superstar of Bollywood. "It is a terrible day for the industry and all of us," actress Saira Banu said.
Sharmila Tagore said, "He was an amazing actor."
Actress Neha Dhupia tweeted, "RIP Rajesh khanna Saab ... U , ur stardom, ur magic will live forever!" (sic)
Rajesh Khanna's Bollywood journey
His rise to Bollywood superstar reads like a movie script. As a struggling actor in Mumbai, Rajesh Khanna won the All India Talent Contest organised in association with Filmfare, beating over 10,000 contestants.
Though the actor got his first break soon after in Chetan Anand's 'Akhri Khat' in 1966, and followed it up with a few films including Asit Sen's 'Khamoshi', it wasn't until his double role n 'Aradhana' in 1969 opposte Sharmila Tagore that a star was born.
Through the early 1970s films like 'Kati Patang', 'Safar', 'Ittefaq', 'Aan Milo Sajna' and 'Haathi Mere Saathi' consolidated his superstardom. During this phase Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Anand' remains one of the actor's most memorable performances. Khanna, music composer RD Burman and singer Kishore Kumar were a team most sought after in the early 70s.
He married actress Dimple while he was still riding his success wave in 1973, but the two separated a few years later.
He was also successfully paired with a string of leading ladies including Sharmila Tagore, Asha Parekh and Mumtaz.
Though Rajesh Khanna's popularity declined with the rise of the angry young man - Amitabh Bachchan - the star continued to deliver hits well into the 1980s with films like 'Souten', 'Dharam Kanta' and 'Maqsad'. He eventually moved on to do older and character roles and enjoyed box-office success with 'Avatar' and 'Swarg'.
In the 1990s the actor took a break from films and joined politics having won the 1992 by elections on a Congress ticket from Delhi.
Though Khanna appeared in a B grade film recently, it was this commercial directed by R Balki that brought him back to the limelight. The commercial recreates an era actually lived by the Bollywood's first superstar who leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Controversy's favourite child, Pakistani actress Veena Malik reveals that her heart craves to croon and that her dream has been to become a singer and not an actor.

"Ever since my childhood, I have imagined myself standing in front of thousands of people and singing. I never dreamt of becoming a Bollywood star. I am happy, and acting is something I enjoy but my ultimate dream is to become a singer," she added.

Currently Veena Malik is busy promoting her first Hindi movie Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, which will see her in a double role.

Veena was roped in for the reality show 'Veena Ka Swayamvar', but the reality show didn't happened because the Imagine decided to shut down its operations.

Would she be part of any dance or comedy show?

"I personally don't like dance shows. I said no to dance shows, I said no to comedy shows because when it comes to comedy, I would like to only do the films," she said.

Directed by Anand Balraj, "Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai" releases June 29.
