Pakistan quick bowler Mohammad Asif, jailed at the high-security prison in Wandsworth, will probably be transferred to an open jail, a report says on yesterday. The move would indicate thatAsifwill have more liberty and rights than at a closed jail where more harmful crooks are housed.
“I have only talked to Asif a few times on the telephone. I have not been in a position to visit him just yet, but he’s been told he will be transferred to an open jail and that should happen within the upcoming 5 to 7 days,” a buddy of Asif informed a site. Asif was sentenced to one year jail term along with Salman Butt (30 months) and Mohammad Amir (6 months) for their assistance in the spot-fixing scandal during a Test match at Lord’s a year ago.
The UK jail system is divided into 4 groups A-D, with A being for crooks who’re considered a risk to the public or national safety.D group is for criminals who’re not regarded as a threat to society and not estimated to attempt escape. They’re also probably to have more rights like being in a position to wander around the grounds when they desire and have free internet access and other enjoyment alternatives, the report says.
