Himesh's Damadamm loses out to RA.One?

Mumbai, Oct. 22 -- Himesh Reshammiya's Damadamm, is set to compete for box office numbers with Shah Rukh Khan's magnum opus RA.One. And debutante director Swapna Waghmare is convinced that the buzz for SRK's action flick is so high that it will sweep most of the audience.
She admits to trying to convince herself to be content with the scanty footfall her film will draw. "It's okay. Of course, RA.One is a very big film and it will draw in 80 to 85 per cent of the audience, but we require that 10 to 15 percent," says Swapna.
It's a double whammy for the director as yesteryears actor Hema Malini's film, Tell Me O Kkhuda, which also releases on the same weekend, will occupy an appreciable amount of the leftover space after RA.One. "Diwali is the right time for these feel-good films. This is the time when family unites and wants to watch a film together. Even Tell Me O Khuda has a big star cast. They (SRK and Hema Malini) can take the highways and I will take the narrow lane," says Swapna, who has directed television soaps like Kalash, Kutumb and Karma.
Damadamm revolves around Himesh's character Sameer, who finally gets freedom when his girlfriend Shikha (Purbi Joshi) leaves for a family wedding. Feeling like the happiest person in the world, he parties, drinks, and even flirts with other girls until Shikha returns.
Swapna insists that she made a conscious effort to keep the film as far from the drama space as possible. "I have really made an effort to stay away from that kind of subject. Television shows are larger-than-life these days, and films are more realistic. So I tried avoiding all that I have done in television," she says.
Ask about her experience working with Himesh, and Swapna says, "He's the most hard-working actor I've ever met in my 22-year-long career. He trusted my direction completely, never questioning what I asked of him." Himesh made his debut as an actor with Aap Kaa Surroor: The Moviee The Real Luv Story (2007), which was a hit and also featured in films like Karzzzz (2008).
