Katrina Kaif losses her temper on set

Kat reportedly lost her cool when the director demands more from her. The director wanted Katrina Kaif to play a seductress inside a bath-tub which the actress did not agree at all.

A source associated with the ad informs, “Since it was a soap ad, Katrina was required to shoot for her scenes inside a bath tub. Despite giving several shots, the director didn’t think Kat was enacting the right ‘seductive’ expressions. He requested her to try once more.”

All hell broke lose after that with the actress even apparently issuing a warning to the director to not “push the envelope”. Katrina Kaif was cordial with everyone on the sets. However, after the director made his request, Kat lost it. Post this, the crew decided to stay mum on the issue and proceeded to wrap up the shoot at the earliest,” added the source.

Kat is the brand ambassador of many top brands. And to add to it she is even the best pick for directors, for it is known that, she is calm and very keen to discuss the scenes with them. Looks like the Barbie has an unrevealed side too!

“We are yet to be selected for the main entry. If the film gets a go ahead, we would take advice from Aamir (Khan) about how to go ahead,” Ranbir said.

Only three Bollywood movies – Mehboob Khan’s Mother India, Mira Nair’s Salam Bombay! and Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan–  have managed to get to the final round of Oscar nominations so far.

The 85th Academy Awards will take place on February 24, 2013.

Raaz 3

Vikram Bhatt’s latest spookfest Raaz 3 may be riddled with clichés of the horror genre, but the film does at times send chills down one’s spine. Put succinctly, Raaz 3 is a one-time scare. 

After dabbling with subjects like reincarnation and rapist ghosts, Bhatt pivots his latest flick on a more humane premise: the deep rooted jealousy and insecurity of a woman who’s beginning to lose her fame, her man, besides her mental balance, of course. 

Bipasha Basu plays Shanaya, a successful film star facing competition from her half-sister Sanjana (Esha Gupta). As Sanjana sweeps awards that Shanaya hoped to win, bags movie projects that looked Shanaya’s for the taking, insecurities come creeping in and Shanaya loses all sense of morality or righteousness and takes to casting black magic spells on Sanjana to destroy her career and life. 

To do her dirty job, Shanaya seduces her director Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) who’s indebted to her for giving him a break in films and who now wholeheartedly gives in to her seductions only to be trapped in a sordid intrigue that makes Sanjana’s life hell on Halloween. The tide turns when Aditya develops feelings for Sanjana and decides to rid her of the black magic spell cast by Shanaya. Easier said than done. 

To his credit, Vikram Bhatt has this time chosen a subject that’s far less outlandish, but he fails to infuse novelty in the scares. The evil spirits being invoked in graveyards, the hands popping out of a TV screen to throttle the young heroine, clowns wandering about in her haunted house, thebabas, tantrics and all doing mysterious rituals and mouthing mumbo-jumbo mantras are not exactly one’s idea of good horror. That said, a few macabre sequences do stand out. Like when Esha Gupta is mauled by thousands of flying cockroaches or when maggot-infested ghouls make an appearance, which, when seen with 3D effects, do appear popping out of the screen, and it’s not without a careful peep into the popcorn bucket for the creepy-crawlies that a viewer thereafter proceeds with ritual munching. 

The culmination to the story isn’t unpredictable, particularly when it’s turned into that never-ending battle between the good and the evil. 

Kudos to Bipasha Basu for giving herself fully to this role like a possessed woman. Her character breathes malice for her rival. She’s the cunning, manipulative, unrelenting vamp that doesn’t mind romping with an evil spirit in her vile pursuit. Esha Gupta has a persecuted look throughout the film, and her performance teeters between a few glimmers of fine acting and plain hamming. Emraan Hashmi, surprisingly, looks disinterested for the most part, as if it’s just another drill for a good payday. Aditya’s role is underwritten for an actor of Emraan’s caliber, the only compensation being the steamy lovemaking scenes he has with both Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. 

The songs are a let-down; more notable, however, is how Vikram Bhatt uses the background music to build anticipation. The silences preceding the sudden burst of background score -- the thumps, the screams, the creaky doors -- with morbid imagery in 3D to boot, do give you the heebie-jeebies once in a while. 

All said, Raaz 3 works because of a fine performance by Bipasha Basu and a few genuine scary moments well executed by Vikram Bhatt. An old hand at horror genre, Bhatt’s improving with every film, but he needs to forgo the clichés that have become synonymous with his oeuvre.

Is Aishwarya Rai trying to become pregnant again?

Is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan trying to become pregnant again? Some comments by Bollywood gossip writer Rajeev Masand have set tongues wagging about the possibility that Aishwarya might be expecting another baby.

What’s the evidence for this rumor? The first bit is admittedly suspect: Aishwarya has obviously struggled with her weight since giving birth to Aaradhya some five months ago. In fact some of her recent public appearances make it seem like she’s actually gained weight, rather than lost some (the black number she wore to Mukesh Ambani’s party for Sachin Tendulkar was far from slimming). And her hesitance to commit to any long-term film projects (while at the same time being willing to take on small appearances and commercials) is exactly the type of behavior one might expect from an actress who has decided to have another child. She wouldn’t want any repeats of the Heroine disaster, that’s for sure.

But there’s actual substance to this rumor as well: Rajeev Masand has revealed in his latest column that Aishwarya is “extremely keen” to have another child very soon. That desire for a second baby would go a long way towards explaining her decision to take a year (and then some) away from the industry.

So is a baby brother or sister for Aaradhya in the works? It sounds like Aishwarya and Abhishek are definitely planning on one—and from the looks of things, a new baby could be coming sooner rather than later!

Box office: Salman Khan’s 'Ek Tha Tiger' makes Rs. 210 crore and still counting!

The past two weeks have seen quite a number of box office records smashed, thanks to the runaway hit of the season: Salman Khan’s unstoppable box office rage Ek Tha Tiger. 

The good news is that after its second weekend, the Kabir Khan-directed film has raked in Rs. 210 crore from both domestic market and abroad. The domestic collection of Ek Tha Tiger stands at Rs. 175 crore net approximately. 

However, ETT is still not the highest earning film in India, the record for which is held by 3 Idiots (Rs. 202 crore nett). But going by ETT’s unabated run at box office, there is every chance that the film will cross the lifetime collection of 3 Idiots to become the biggest grosser in the history of Indian cinema. 

The success of EK Tha Tiger has already shot Salman Khan’s market value up by a few crores. It was even rumoured that the Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani offered the superstar Rs. 100 crore to feature in his production. Subhash Ghai, who’s announced his decision to make a film with Salman, says he would happily shell out Rs. 100 crore to Salman if the superstar demands it. 

Meanwhile, the last Friday’s release Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi has mostly gone unnoticed in the Tiger storm that’s raging on. The film, starring Farah Khan and Boman Irani could only muster Rs. 6 crore approx. in its opening weekend. 

The coming Friday would see the release of Joker, starring Akshay Kumar,Sonakshi Sinha, Minissha Lamba and Shreyas Talpade.

Salman Khan offered Rs. 100 crore for a film?

This Tiger is certainly burning bright. Salman Khan is riding high over a slew of blockbusters, and the credit goes to no one else but him. He is undeniably at the peak of his career, and every producer is vying to have him in his film. The latest rumour to grip the tinsel ville is that the actor is offered Rs 100 crore to sign a film with Ramesh Taurani of Tips. 

OMG! 100 crore? That’s way past the budget of many films made in Bollywood. Though incredulous, the grapevine suggests that such a hefty paycheck has been offered to Salman! The actor, who demands a share in the film’s profit, has many other producers visiting him with their prospective films. 

A source tells a tabloid that as expected Ek Tha Tiger is doing an incredible business at the BO and many filmmakers are seen outside Salman’s residence to make a film with him. “A couple of days back, he (Taurani) met Salman and offered him Rs 100 crore for a film. Taurani is aware that the actor’s last three films have done business near to Rs 150 crore net and that’s why he is ready to take the gamble,” the source is quoted as saying. 

However, Taurani denies having made the exorbitant offer. Though he has signed the actor for the film, which will be on the floors in 2013, Taurani insists that the amount reported is not right. May be the producer wants to be discreet, but one thing is certain: if Sallu is on board, there is every chance of the film being a superhit, and everyone, from big producers to small-time filmmakers, is aware of it. 

Check out the list of people, who are waiting for Salman Khan’s nod: Vijay Galani, UTV-Disney, Studio 18, Sajid Nadiadwala, Sooraj Bharjatya, Rajkumar Santoshi, Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra. Apart from these filmmakers,Farhan Akhtar, Farah Khan and Karan Johar have also expressed their desire to work with Salman.

The old chestnut ‘Just Good Friends’ no longer passes muster with the media that has witnessed many such ‘friends’ turn into lovers in a wink. Looks like Shahid Kapoor and Bipasha Basu are one such couple taking their relationship to a new level. 

This is not the first time we hear of a rumour linking Bipasha Basu and Shahid Kapoor and rest assured it won’t be the last. But the frequency with which they have been spotted together lately makes us think that something might indeed be brewing between the two. 

The duo has been spotted more often than not at cafes and restaurants, spending quality time with each other, and now we hear of Shasha and Bips going on a long drive out of town. Will 'Ek Tha Tiger' surpass '3 Idiots' at box office!

Having become the fastest film in Bollywood history to reach the 100 crore mark at box office, the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Ek Tha Tiger is now eyeing a bigger record: that of the top lifetime net grosser of all time. 

It’s still early days to jump to conclusion, since a film’s lifetime business can only be ascertained after it has exhausted its run at theatres, but going by the estimates that are being drawn up, Ek Tha Tiger does look like a contender to venture closer to Aamir Khan’s all-time blockbuster 3 Idiots. 

In case you don’t know, 3 Idiots sits pretty on top of the list of all-time net grossers of Bollywood with a lifetime business of Rs. 202.57 crore. It’s a daunting number and no Bollywood film has ventured close to it. Presently, Salman Khan’s Bodyguard is second on the list with the lifetime nett collection of 140.95 crore. 

Ek Tha Tiger is sure to cross the Bodyguard record but the jury is still out on whether it will scrape past the 3 Idiots lifetime collection. 

A few months back, at a function felicitation Sachin Tendulkar on his 100th ton, Salman Khan had joked about how he (Salman) has been trying to break Aamir Khan’s record (of 3 Idiots) but only in vain. Well, now Salman’s wish may be granted. But it’s still too early to call.

Did Shahrukh Khan disrespect Indian national flag?

A case against Shahrukh Khan has been filed for ‘disrespecting’ the Indian national flag. The complainant is a Pune-based social worker. 

Ravindra Bramhe, who is the national secretary of Lok Janshakti Party, has filed a case against Shahrukh Khan after watching a video in which the actor is seen carrying the national flag upside down. 

According to Bramhe, he saw the clip on the internet and it shows Shahrukh Khan driving his car from his residence Mannat to celebrate the Indian Cricket team’s world cup win in April 2011. The actor, according to Bramhe, is seen carrying the tricolor upside down. 

Though the offense seems inadvertent, Bramhe has filed a case against the superstar under the relevant sections of The Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Act. However, he is dismayed by the fact that the Chatuhshrungi police station where he filed the complaint has transferred the case to Juhu police station in Mumbai. 

Shahrukh Khan is presently in Ladakh shooting for Yash Chopra’s film. His patriotism is beyond doubt and it can be recalled that he cheered team India in the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan. He was also the first among the Bollywood stars to take to streets to celebrate India’s World Cup win last year.
