Shahrukh Khan meets Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya Bachchan

If any last nail was needed to bury the rumours of a rift between Shahrukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, it was hammered earlier this week when SRK paid a visit to Jalsa to meet Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya.

The ever busy man that he is, Shahrukh Khan hadn’t yet had the time to meet Abhishek and Aishwarya’s daughter despite him being among the first ones to congratulate the couple after the news of Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy broke out last year.

We hear that finally on Wednesday night, Shahrukh was at Hrithik Roshan’s place when he decided to visit the Bachchans. He drove to Jalsa and spent some time playing with Aaradhya. Thereafter, he, Abhishek and Farah Khan (who had also arrived to see Aaradhya) spent a lot of time just chatting away.

The meeting, we hear, lasted till about 1.30 pm.

Shahrukh Khan is presently looking forward to the Yash Chopra film withKatrina Kaif. The superstar also has Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express in his kitty.

Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan will stick together during the promotions of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’

Do you know what’s Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan bonding over nowadays? Their romantic actioner Ek Tha Tiger. The couple has decided to stick together for the promotions of their comeback film, slated to release on August 15. Salman and Katrina are back as an on-screen jodi after a hiatus of four years.

It’s learnt that Katrina Kaif won’t go solo for the promotions of Ek Tha Tiger, when Tiger Salman Khan is around. Since there is no bad blood between the exes, it would be easy for Katrina to be with Sallu for the promotions.

The news has been confirmed by a Yash Raj spokesperson: “It’s a very important film for both of them, so they have decided to promote it together.” However, things did go haywire for Katrina Kaif while filming a song with Salman Khan. The reports that the two had a fight over Katrina’s revealing dress was recently confirmed by the director Kabir Khan

“Katrina and Salman go back a long way. He was very involved in their scenes together and her costumes. They have a certain equation. Even Salman seeks her opinion. But yes, there was an incident where they disagreed over Katrina’s costume in the song. It was over a particular cut in the black blouse she has worn with a yellow skirt,” Kabir Khan is quoted as saying.

If the two have decided to go together for the promotions, it’s good for the film and also for the ex-flames, who claim that they are very good friends.

However, not always has Salman Khan promoted his films with his heroine. During Bodyguard, Sallu and Kareena Kapoor were hardly seen together at the promotions, except a few occasions. Kareena even gave solo interviews promoting the film. Result: the movie was a blockbuster. We’re pretty sure that with the twin charmers like Sallu and Kat, the promotions of Ek Tha Tiger would be still better and its box office fate grander.

Rajesh Khanna has left for a nice and heavenly place: Akshay Kumar

Even as tributes pour in from Bollywood bigwigs and the country’s top politicos, Rajesh Khanna’s son-in-law Akshay Kumar said the deceased superstar has left for “a nice and heavenly place”.

Rajesh Khanna, who epitomised superstardom in Hindi cinema in the 1970s with such immortals as AnandKati Patang and Aradhana, left for a "nice and heavenly place" Wednesday morning, his son-in-law and actor Akshay Kumar announced. He was 69.

Rajesh, Bollywood's first superstar and perhaps the only one to have reached those dazzling heights of fame, died at his home Ashirwad after a long battle with suspected liver problems.

His demise brought back memories of the charmer, lover and hero that he was to his family, fans and well-wishers. For them, his magic will remain forever.

"He has gone to a nice and heavenly place, we are happy about that," Rajesh's son-in-law Akshay Kumar, married to his elder daughter Twinkle, said after his death around 10 a.m.

When news of his critical health first came out on June 20, legion of his fans expressed concern. A day later, he stepped out in the company of Akshay Kumar and estranged wife Dimple Kapadia to tell his fans that all is well. (see photo above)

But clearly it wasn't.

He was a shadow of himself, gaunt and ravaged by illness, with glares covering the famous face that would once reduce women to a swoon.

On June 23, Kaka - as he was popularly known in the film world - was in the hospital, and the stay stretched for 15 days. Just a week after he was discharged, he was back to the hospital bed due to "weakness", but was allowed to go home soon after.

Though family members maintained he was "fine", Rajesh Khanna was said to be critical Wednesday morning and breathed his last at his Bandra home.

His family - estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinke - were by his side during his last moments, those close to the family said.

Film celebrities like Amitabh BachchanShahrukh KhanSalman Khan,Abhishek BachchanShabana AzmiSajid KhanFarah Khan and Prem Chopra came to his residence to pay their respects after news of his demise spread.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni were amongst the political leaders who condoled the death of the star.

Thousands of his fans and industry members are expected to turn up for the funeral, scheduled at 11.30 a.m. Thursday.

Rajesh's death has brought the curtains down on an era in Hindi cinema - an era he defined with his prowess in romantic and emotional roles, an art that has inspired and continues to inspire several young actors and his legion of fans.

Summarising the phenomenon that Rajesh Khanna was, Anupam Kher said that "he gave us a crash course in romance. He introduced us to a special twinkle in the eyes that made us feel good about ourselves. Rajesh Khanna taught us how to smile. He added dignity to our concept of romance."

In his career spanning almost five decades, the actor featured in about 160 films, starting with "Aakhri Khat" in 1966.

Between "Aradhana" in 1969 and "Prem Kahani" in 1975, he enjoyed god-like status. Women would line the road for a glimpse, chant his name, cover his car with lipstick marks and even write him letters in blood.

It was nothing short of a mania. Then, the films faded away and so did the star. The years in between did see some films, some hits like "Avtaar" and some B-grade like the forgettable Wafa, but the man had disappeared into the shadows.

His last few public appearances came as a shock to his fans. His last screen appearance was an ad for Havells fans, an eerie intimation of what was to come with Kaka reminiscing in an empty auditorium and music from his films echoing in the background.

"Babumoshai," he intoned deeply - the affectionate Bengali address he made all his own after "Anand".

That voice has been silenced.

Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood's first superstar, dies at 69

Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna breathed his last on July 18 at his residence in Mumbai. He was 69 and is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters Twinkle and Rinke. Film actor Akshay Kumar was his son-in-law. His last rites will be performed on Thursday.
The veteran actor was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital last week following reports of low blood pressure, but was discharged on Tuesday and was at his Mumbai residence since then.
Earlier on June 24, he was admitted to a hospital following kidney problems.
The actor is hailed as India's first superstar after 15 consecutive solo superhits between 1969 and 1972, a record that remains unbroken.
The Bollywood industry expressed grief at the death of the first superstar of Bollywood. "It is a terrible day for the industry and all of us," actress Saira Banu said.
Sharmila Tagore said, "He was an amazing actor."
Actress Neha Dhupia tweeted, "RIP Rajesh khanna Saab ... U , ur stardom, ur magic will live forever!" (sic)
Rajesh Khanna's Bollywood journey
His rise to Bollywood superstar reads like a movie script. As a struggling actor in Mumbai, Rajesh Khanna won the All India Talent Contest organised in association with Filmfare, beating over 10,000 contestants.
Though the actor got his first break soon after in Chetan Anand's 'Akhri Khat' in 1966, and followed it up with a few films including Asit Sen's 'Khamoshi', it wasn't until his double role n 'Aradhana' in 1969 opposte Sharmila Tagore that a star was born.
Through the early 1970s films like 'Kati Patang', 'Safar', 'Ittefaq', 'Aan Milo Sajna' and 'Haathi Mere Saathi' consolidated his superstardom. During this phase Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Anand' remains one of the actor's most memorable performances. Khanna, music composer RD Burman and singer Kishore Kumar were a team most sought after in the early 70s.
He married actress Dimple while he was still riding his success wave in 1973, but the two separated a few years later.
He was also successfully paired with a string of leading ladies including Sharmila Tagore, Asha Parekh and Mumtaz.
Though Rajesh Khanna's popularity declined with the rise of the angry young man - Amitabh Bachchan - the star continued to deliver hits well into the 1980s with films like 'Souten', 'Dharam Kanta' and 'Maqsad'. He eventually moved on to do older and character roles and enjoyed box-office success with 'Avatar' and 'Swarg'.
In the 1990s the actor took a break from films and joined politics having won the 1992 by elections on a Congress ticket from Delhi.
Though Khanna appeared in a B grade film recently, it was this commercial directed by R Balki that brought him back to the limelight. The commercial recreates an era actually lived by the Bollywood's first superstar who leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Karisma Kapoor’s husband planning to marry again?

You know all is not well on the marital front when a wife stays away from her husband. Actress Karisma Kapoor may have easily evaded questions on her marriage, but it’s pretty obvious that she is going through a rough phase, and staying mostly in Mumbai and not with her husband Sunjay Kapur in Delhi. Meanwhile, Sunjay is apparently planning marriage with his good friend.

The grapevine suggests that Karisma’s hubby Sunjay, whom she married in 2003, is quite close to the former model and socialite Priya Sachdev, and is now planning to take his relationship to the next level. As a source is quoted as saying, “Sunjay and Priya appear to be extremely serious about each other. They want to keep their past behind and start anew.”

The reports of Priya Sachdev, who was earlier married to the rich hotelier Vikram Chatwal and also has a daughter with him, and Sunjay Kapur getting close started floating around in the year 2010 when the two were quite often spotted at the high-profile parties in the capital.

The insiders claim that Karisma had married Sunjay on the rebound after her breakup with Abhishek Bachchan to whom she was engaged. Even after the birth of Karisma’s daughter Samaira in March 2005, there was a strong buzz that all was not well on the marital front. However, something went right with the couple because Lolo was pregnant again and delivered a boy Kiaan Raj in March 2010, but even the attempts to give their marriage a second chance proved futile as the marital woes continued.

While interacting with the media during the promotions of her comeback film, Dangerous Ishhq, Karisma Kapoor preferred to stay mum about her personal life, and even requested that she should not be asked questions about her marriage.

The actress is said to be fully aware of her hubby’s ways, and both the parties concerned are keen to tackle it in a quiet way without any media glare.

Sunjay was earlier married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani from whom he got a divorce just a few days before he tied the knot with Karisma.

Breaking News: Shahrukh Khan banned from Wankhede stadium for 5 years

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan was banned from the Wankhede Stadium for five years, Mumbai Cricket Association President Vilasrao Deshmukh announced Friday.

The development comes two days after the co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders allegedly got into a fracas with MCA officials and security personnel at the Wankhede stadium here in Mumbai.

SRK drunk and abusive? MCA says yes, star says no

Shah Rukh Khan was at the centre of an ugly row Thursday with allegations that he had got into a brawl with security personnel and officials at the Wankhede stadium. But the star issued a furious denial and said it was his children and others who had been "manhandled" and deserved an apology.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner even faced a lifetime ban from entering the Wankhede Stadium after allegedly turning up there drunk at the ground and misbehaving with security guards and cricket officials Wednesday night.

The incident took place after his team beat Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League match at the stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) filed a complaint with Mumbai's Marine Drive police station.

In a case of his word against theirs, Shah Rukh denied that he was drunk or that his behaviour was incorrect.

"I don't think that my behaviour was incorrect or I did something illegal. I think what I did was correct. They are my kids and I have a responsibility towards them. I will not apologise. They (officials) should apologise to me," Shah Rukh told reporters outside his residence.

Recounting his version, the 46-year-old said: "I had gone to pick up my children who were there to watch the match. I went there, congratulated my team and when I came back, I saw that there a gentleman was manhandling the children. They were pushing little girls. I just told him that this is not the way to behave.

"He (the official) spoke something in Marathi, something which I can't even repeat... I said he should not speak to me like this. It is extremely disturbing to see the way they manhandled children… I won't deny that I could have said something in a fit of anger," he added.

He said he was not drunk.

"I just drink socially. It is an easy way to pick on the celebrities and say things like that they were drunk or were angry."

The version of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was completely different. Officials said Shah Rukh and his entourage wanted to celebrate after the presentation ceremony but were not allowed to do so.

He allegedly misbehaved with an elderly guard and pushed him. When MCA officials intervened, he is said to have abused them.

"This is a grave matter. I have called for an urgent meeting and we shall discuss the matter following which we will decide the future course of action," union minister and MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh told IANS.

A decision on a lifetime ban would be taken only after the meeting of all members from the managing committee of MCA next week, MCA Joint Secretary Nitin Dalal said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Iqbal Shaikh agreed that the actor was drunk and said police were looking into the matter.

"Shah Rukh was drunk. He was smelling of alcohol but he was not drinking at the Wankhede stadium. But it is not an offence. He was also abusing and threatening MCA and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) officials," said Sheikh.

Sheikh, who is also a member of the MCA managing committee, said he was present at the ground and tried to prevent the situation from turning ugly.

As the controversy swirled, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla said a decision would be taken only after getting all the versions.

The scuffle is unwelcome news for the star, who was in the spotlight in January this year for slapping director Shirish Kunder at a party hosted by Sanjay Dutt.

Shah Rukh's colleagues in Bollywood appeared to be strangely quiet at this latest controversy with no immediate reactions.
