Jab Tak Hai Jaan Breaks All Pakistani Records

Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has made a larger than live arrival at the Pakistani cinemas, with a blockbuster opening netting in Rs 4 million in ticket sales on the first day alone.

The film opened in Pakistani cinemas on November 16, breaking all previous records with 9,000 seats booked in advance.

The film is being distributed in Pakistan by IMGC Global. The IMGC Global chairman, who also was a very close friend of late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, held a premiere of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ at the Atrium, Karachi on November 15. The special screening was arranged to pay tribute to Yash Chopra and to celebrate his last directorial offering. A large number of celebrities attended the premiere and shared their thoughts about Yash Chopra. It is not only in Pakistan that ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ endorsed a great opening; the movie has made record breaking openings all over the world. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh has termed it as the “best Diwali for Bollywood”, with huge openings through out the US, Europe and Australia.

Film critics have termed ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ as one of Yash Chopra’s finest romantic creations, which will keep the King of Romance alive in the hearts of viewers for a long time to come.

Shahrukh Khan as a criminal, Juhi Chawla as a judge!

After teaming up in movies like "Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman", "Darr", "Yes Boss" and "Duplicate", popular onscreen duo Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla would soon recreate their magic in a television commercial. 

Scripted and directed by Kabir Sadanand, the ad is a sequel to the last edition of the Matrix Forex TV commercial. 

Set in a courtroom, the ad shows Shahrukh Khan as a criminal and Juhi as a judge. 

The duo were last seen together in 2008 film Bhootnath and this is said to be their first commercial together. 

Both of them became business partners with Dreamz Unlimited before Shahrukh Khan took it over in 2004 and made it Red Chillies Entertainment. Now Shah Rukh, Juhi and her husband Jai Mehta are co-owners of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. 

Set to be aired soon, the advertisement also features cricketers Brett Lee, Yusuf Pathan and Brendon McCullum.

India asks US to avoid Shahrukh Khan type incidents

Outrage in India over Shahrukh Khan's detention at a US airport compels New Delhi to ask Washington to take steps.

After the outrage in India over the detention of Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan at a US airport, New Delhi has asked Washington to take steps to avoid such incidents in the future.


To "convey the deep concern that has been expressed nation wide in India" over Khan's detention at White Plains airport near New York Thursday, the Indian Embassy here said it has taken up the matter with the US Department of State.

It has also "sought the State Department's intervention to institute appropriate measures to avoid recurrence of such an incident in the future", it said in a press note Saturday.

According to the embassy's version of the incident, about half an hour after the arrival of "the internationally renowned Indian film star" by a private jet at White Plains airport Thursday afternoon, the Indian consulate in New York received information that he had not been cleared by the US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP).

"The Consulate General immediately intervened with the concerned authorities for his early clearance, which was done within 75 minutes of his arrival," it said.

"Khan thereafter left the airport. The same evening, USCBP authorities, through an email to the Consulate General conveyed their profound apology for the incident.

Caught on the wrong foot over the detaining of Shahrukh Khan at a US airport twice in less than three years, Washington had Friday asserted it was not a case of racial profiling or a pattern.

Suggesting that Shahrukh Khan was not "detained", but "simply delayed", State Department spokesperson Mark Toner told reporters: "I wouldn't necessarily look at this as some sort of pattern but rather two separate incidents."

Toner also dismissed a suggestion that it was racial profiling. "I think we all know that that's clearly not the case. The fact of the matter is tens of thousands of Muslims travel to and from the United States every day and are not detained or delayed."

In August 2009, too, Khan was detained at New Jersey's Newark airport.

Never imagined I'd work with Shahrukh Khan again: Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma has been roped in for Yash Chopra's next untitled film, in which she teams up with Shahrukh Khan again. The model-turned-actress says that she never imagined that she would get another chance to work with the superstar.

Anushka Sharma made her debut opposite Shahrukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. "I didn't think I will get a chance to work with Shah Rukh again after my first film, but I did. So, I am the lucky one. I look forward to it. Mr. Yash Chopra is an institution in himself literally. I guess I would get to learn a lot from that film," Anushka told reporters Thursday at the unveiling of India Today's women health magazine.

"I have not started the shooting yet. I will be joining the crew from May onwards right after my birthday, which is on May 1. So I will start shooting from May 2. I am very excited. I think it is any actor's dream to work with Yash Chopra," Anushka added.

Chopra's film also features Katrina Kaif.

The 23-year-old also signed Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which is a completely different film. Directed by Rony Shaha, the comedy is being produced by Bhardwaj and it features Imran Khan in the male lead.

Anushka Sharma, who has recently finished the first schedule of the film in Rajkot, says the film is different from what she has done so far.

"I am really happy to be working with Vishal Bhardwaj. We just finished a schedule in Rajkot and we are back. He really is a genius director. He knows how much of what you need to use and portray that in his films."

"For me, it was a little different. The kind of films that I have done was different from this one. I was nervous in the beginning, but I think it's going really well and I am really looking forward to it."

Katrina Kaif taking personal interest in film with Shahrukh Khan!

Katrina Kaif is beginning to show the qualities that Aamir Khan is known to display. That is: taking personal interest in a film rather than just do-you-job-and-go-home kinda attitude!

We hear that Katrina Kaif has taken over the responsibility of styling for her character in the Yash Chopra film she’s shooting for with Shahrukh Khan in London.

A source says: “Katrina feels she’s understood the character so well that she’s taking it on herself to go out and shop for the clothes, accessories and other trinkets for her character. Katrina knows London very well and knows from where to get the stuff she needs”.

A confirmation of this has come from Katrina Kaif’s spokesperson, who is quoted as saying: “She (Katrina) personally has been shopping for accessories and clothes for the film. Katrina has envisioned her character and knows that she is the only one who can do justice to it. The song they are currently shooting in London will make other romantic songs in the industry sound and look mediocre.”

Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan recently shot a song at Canary Wharf. On the sets she was seen in a short black skirt and a black top, probably chosen by herself.

This is Kat’s first film with Shahrukh Khan.

Salman Khan in Katrina Kaif’s vanity van!

Before your imagination cooks up anything steamy, let’s just say that nothing hanky-panky is going on between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif; at least nothing that the media has got the whiff of yet! Seems like the Ek Tha Tiger shooting schedule in Dublin, Istanbul and Cuba has brought the ex lovers closer than they have been since their split. After Salman using her vanity van and her personal car, what do we hope to see next? Salman moving in Katrina’s apartment while she’s away? Now, we are letting our imagination run wild.
