Anoushka Shankar: My baby needs to know India!

After actor Madhuri Dixit, it is sitarist Anoushka Shankar who is ready to pack her bags for the homecoming. Shankar, who is settled in London with her filmmaker husband Joe Wright, year old son Zubin and and their dog, Kansas Brown, says she wants her child to know his roots.
"We (Joe and I) do talk about that. That's likely to happen at some point. India is home, and it's important for me to raise Zubin in his country," says the 30-year-old. The artist is currently in India to promote her latest album, Traveller. She will perform in Mumbai on January 13 and in Delhi on January 15 as part of the Vh1 Handpicked concerts. Since the "record was made while he (Zubin) was being made," the daughter of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar is making plans for both at the same time. Does she see him growing up to be a musician too? "Whatever he chooses, I want him to be happy ... he can be an accountant for that matter, I'm fine with it!"
She's sure the family effect is rubbing off, though. "The way he is being raised is definitely in a very artistic environment. So if that has an impact, then it's not for us (to stop him)." She adds: "I've been speaking to him more in Tamil because that's my mother tongue. My dad speaks to him in Bengali. I'd like him to speak Hindi."

Waiting for the right script: Madhuri

Actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, who shifted base to India from Denver, US, in October, says after initial adjustment problems, her family has settled in well.
“To be honest, both my husband and I always loved India. We wanted our kids to grow up with the values and environment we grew up with,” says the 44-year-old who has two sons — Arin, 8, and Raayan, 6. “We thought this is the right time because the kids are young. My older son initially missed his old school friends. Now, both of them are doing well and are settling nicely,” she adds.
Madhuri will be seen next on the small screen as the sutradhaar of the new Hindi GEC channel, Life OK. “I will appear everyday after a show, discussing the values shown on the show, without being preachy.” As for Bollywood, she says, “I am waiting for the right script. I am at the final stages of some script reading, but nothing’s been finalised yet.”

Madhuri writes, no one replies!

I find this really funny. But my international khabri from the US has just mailed me to say that Madhuri Dixit has completed a year on Twitter. She writes pretty regularly there. She also has a lot of fans following her. So?
The problem is that, people seldom respond to her tweets. She continues to update the world about her moves, but followers hardly reply or retweet her messages. Hota hai... if this Twitter had happened in the 1990s, she would have reigned the web with her messages and record number of fans. Ab na wo din hain, na waise fans... After all such is life dearies!
