I feel like an orphan today without my father: Adnan Sami

Mumbai: Singer-composer Adnan Sami took a sabbatical to deal with his father`s death and says his dad`s absence sometimes make him feel like an orphan.

"My father`s passing away was so huge that it eclipsed everything... Nothing else was important - I mean to the point that I feel like an orphan without my father. He was my mentor, guide, best friend... everything," Adnan said.

Arshad Sami Khan, a former Pakistani diplomat, passed away in 2009 in Mumbai. He died from cancer of the pancreas.

"That loss was so big nothing else was important. I needed a bit of time out to gather myself. Healing is a process and it takes time. Three years were spent trying to deal with it," he added.

The singer recently released his new album ‘Press Play’ and refuses to call it his comeback tool.

"I may not have been in the forefront creating music for public, but as musician I don`t look at it as a comeback. If people want to call it a comeback, then so be it," he said.

Although independent music has faded, Adnan, who once ruled the independent albums scene with ‘Tera Chehra’ and ‘Kabhi To Nazar Milao’, still believes in the genre.

"I have always been a huge believer in the albums because in the West independent albums are still doing well. It`s just that the format has changed from CD to digital, but format changing is not a new phenomenon," he said.

"The format must have changed, but people still love listening to the music. If the music is good and if it`s presented properly on the right platform, it will work," the 43-year-old added.

"I just hope independent music comes back and if press plays a pioneer in it, I`d feel honoured about it," he added.

Known to cast celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan in his album, he feels stars presence do not guarantee success of any product.

"I was the one who started the whole process. I am a firm believer that it (celebs) enhances, but doesn`t guarantee (success of an album).

"If compilation of stars is going to guarantee the success of any product, then all multi-starrer films would be a blockbuster, which they are not. The content is always the king. Stars doesn`t guarantee the success of any product."

Deepika Padukone avoids London trip, courtesy Katrina Kaif?

Mumbai: They were once very much in love and the most happening couple in the Tinsel Town. But now, the two have moved on and have decided to remain friends.

Ex-couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor are gearing up to set the silver screen ablaze with their sizzling chemistry in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. But here’s something beyond their reel space.

Buzz has it that the dimpled and dusky beauty has decided to skip the promotion of ‘YJHD’ in London as Katrina Kaif will be in the city along with her family. Since Katrina is rumoured to be dating Deepika’s ex, Ranbir Kapoor, Ms Padukone wants to avoid a face-off with Kat in the British capital. Therefore, she had to take the decision to cancel her London trip.

But Katrina may not be the only reason for Deepika to give the London trip a miss. The actress also needs to complete Rohit Shetty’s film ‘Chennai Express’ starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Deepika’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is slated to release 31 May, while ‘Chennai Express’ is scheduled to release this Eid which falls on August 8.

Sanjay Dutt creates new record

Mumbai: Amidst the din surrounding Sanjay Dutt’s impending jail term in connection with possession of illegal ammunition during the 1993 Mumbai blasts, what has come to the fore is that the actor is working round the clock to keep up his commitments.

Dutt, who had recently stated that many in the film industry have been spreading false news about him, has created a new record by dubbing for ‘Policegiri’ in just three hours.

Talking to a leading daily, producer Rahul Agarwal said, “It is humanly impossible for someone to be as good as Sanju. He completed dubbing for the entire film in just three hours. I was really touched to see that he still came the next day to ensure that everything is good to go. Hats off to Sanju.”

Dutt had to surrender to the police last month around, April 18, but had appealed to the Supreme Court to grant him some more time to complete his impending work.

The actor will also be seen playing the role of Sher Khan in ‘Zanjeer’ remake, a character essayed by veteran actor Pran in the original version. The film in question will mark the debut of Ram Charan Teja, the son of Telugu superstar and Congress MP Chiranjeevi.

Life is not just waiting for someone

Life is not just waiting for someone
who is made for you.
But life is living for someone,
